What's Left of Maplewood (MN)

We can't draw, so we are left with verbal cartoons about Maplewood city politics.

Historical Context: Roseville

A regular visitor seen at Maplewood city council functions in the past year has been the former mayor of Roseville, Kyzlick-whateverhisnameis. Apparently he's good friends with Mayor Longrie, perhaps something of an advisor or mentor, helping her carry on his idea of how government should be.

So what was he like, when he was running council meetings in Roseville? Sure, you've heard he was a goofball, but did you ever wonder if reality could be as bad as the picture drawn in the media? And exactly how similar is he to our comment troll, as some have suggested?

Well, wonder no more. While you wait for tonight's cable access entertainment, broadcast live from our council chambers, check out this collection archival footage, which a Roseville tipster pointed us to.

Well. Now that we have seen the video, I do see a strong resemblance to the random meandering path that our troll wanders on throughout this blog. Making up facts where there are none. Smokescreening those that do exist.

Now I actually feel thankful for the three that we have.

    That's a scary thought.

Looks and sounds like Maplewood's City Council meetings, only with different actors.

    Check this out ...

Towards the end of this page:
    http://rosevillecl.org/Newspaper%20articles/060627_rr.htm

" Maplewood Mayor Diana Longrie said at a meeting that Fursman did not share her "vision" of the city's direction. Following the firing, rumors began circulating that Kysylyczyn was offered the position; however, Kysylyczyn was adamant he was not offered the position. "

I watched the videos. They did a nice job selectively lifting small video clips from council meetings. Wasn't it Lee Atwater who was the master of this in the Bush Dukakas race years back? Remember the revolving door commercial? Anyways I degressed.

I could make Rossbach look like a sinner or a saint depending upon how I cut up council meeting material.

I guess this does confirm what I thought from the beginning which is that the goof squad citizens league in roseville has been coaching the maplewood people. At least the maplewood people had the decency not to steal the real citizen league name. Now we have our proof that the two groups are associated. Now that is a really scarry thought. Thanks!

I forgot to mention that I don't blame Kyzlich-whateverhisnameis for not wanting Copeland's job.

When you think about it from a broad prospective, that job doesn't pay enough for all the garbage you have to take from the public.

You got to deal with all these tuesday morning armchair quarterbacks telling you how to do your job (Tuesday morning since council meetings are on monday).

These people are sort of micromanagers from the public (I call them elected official wannabes) who are constantly telling you how to do your job even though they have little idea what is going on.

I don't think that $500,000 a year would make the job worth while in my opinion.

Side note: Congrats to Nephew for picking up a candidate filing packet from the Clerk at last night's meeting. Will he file?

    NEW WORDS FOR 2007 :

Essential vocabulary additions for the workplace (and gang of 3)!!!

.ADMINISPHERE : The rarefied organizational layers beginning just above the rank and file. Decisions that fall from the adminisphere are often profoundly inappropriate or irrelevant to the problems they were designed to solve.

BLAMESTORMING : Sitting around in a group, discussing why a deadline was missed or a project failed, and who was responsible.

SEAGULL MANAGER: A manager, who flies in, makes a lot of noise, craps on everything, and then leaves.

ASSMOSIS: The process by which some people seem to absorb success and advancement by kissing up to the boss rather than working hard

SALMON DAY : The experience of spending an entire day swimming upstream only to get screwed and die in the end.

IRRITAINMENT: Entertainment and media spectacles that are Annoying but you find yourself unable to stop watching them.

    And from our Troll:

"Hey, guys, that's a really tough job Copeland's doing, so all you people shouldn't critize him, ok?"

I'll bet it would be an easier job if Copeland had the proper education and experience to actually run the city. And if he did a better job, he wouldn't be criticized so much.

Krysylich (or is it Troll? - I can't keep them straight):

"I call them elected official wannabes"

We can't classify you as a wannabe. We have seen the video. You were there. Probably won't be again though. Unless you can hide your identity or get some really juicy photos.

Sorry. I'm not a wannabe. I don't have the stomach for people like you and the other four. I am simply a concerned citizen who dislikes watching someone play both ends against the middle to satisfy their vindictive whims.

Now pardon me while I still try to figure out how the earlier headline is true...

For those of you who want to get rid of Copeland so bad, you maybe should take a lesson from the voters of Miami-Dade. In yesterday's election, the voters stripped the city manager and city council of their powers and gave them to the mayor.

If Maplewood had a charter, you could eliminate the city manager at the ballot box any time you wanted to.

  • At 8:47 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

That truly is a scary thought to give diana more power. Just think what she could do then. I don't think anybody is saying that Maplewood shouldn't have a city manager. We are just saying that Maplewood should have a qualified city manager.

  • At 9:38 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

And just because I never get tired of pointing this out...

We had requirements to hire a qualified city manager. Someone... *cough* *cough* got rid of them so that we could get stuck with the current schmuck.

    Jackson:

    You forgot a piece...

Not only did we have requirements. They were explicit and completely approved by the majority (as well as the minority). As I recall, hjelle even spoke the words himself. I would have to go back and check the tape though.

I too never get tired of that one...

Further food for thought. Our troll posts from 64.131.7.123, which is usfamily.net out of Golden Valley.

John Kysylyczyn's email is, according to his signature at e-democracy.org,
    johnk ( at ) usfamily.net.

    What an interesting coincidence.

I tried to get the list of email addresss off of edemocracy and you need a username and password. So what that means is that brainiac4 is getting fed information from the roseville goof squad. Nice try.

The reason trollette uses usfamily is so it can only be traced to about 20,000 people.

This is just great, the maplewood goof squad needs coaching from the roseville goof squad. This makes my day...

"citizens league in roseville has been coaching the maplewood people"

If this is even true - Thank you, Roseville, for sharing your expertise in government watching. You certainly have had enough chances to get good at it with the goofball you had over there. So thank you, thank you, thank you!

From watching those clips, I'd say we have found our troll. That guy is insane!

No, what that means is that Brainiac4 can read. Kysylyczyn is posting on the e-democracy site, which is public, and using a signature that includes his email address.

Good for him. I guess that proves that he knows how to use email.

Nice "try" on your part. Your smokescreen is not working. Simply put in troll's name in Google and you can easily enough find his e-mail address just as brainiac4 had it. No passwords necessary.

    Again...Nice try.

    One more thing...

Here is the address of the site containing sir k's e-mail address...

    http://forums.e-democracy.org/Roseville/groups/roseville-issues/messages/view_email?show_thread=1&id=151125

    Again, no passwords needed.
