What are the three musketeers afraid of? Why do we keep putting off the inevitable?

    Good question.

I think it was a horrible fumble, politically. Hjelle or Cave could have voted to replace Copeland with Ahl (someone the whole council seems well able to get along with) as interim manager, and scored a BIG stash of political capital and credibility, and maybe let Maplewood look a little less foolish on metro-wide TV tonight.

As it stands, it looks like...

    (a) They really are, as we have long suspected, merely the sock puppets of the mayor, lacking the capacity for independent thought on any non-trivial issue (maybe someone should go to those council social dinners, and see if Diana orders for all three of them too? do they even get to look at the menu?), and/or

    (b) They're cowards, and even though they realize that they look like fools for ratifying Longrie's crony even after his record and lack of qualifications were spread out before them, they're afraid of her wrath if they oppose her by removing the weed inspector's hand-picked minion and office-break-in artist.

I suppose, in practice, there isn't much difference between the two.
